Training.

At Botham Accounting we believe strongly in the benefit of staff training and invest heavily in training for our staff. We are a registered ICAEW training office and we currently have a number of team members actively undertaking their professional training and exams.

All of our team members attend regular training courses throughout the year to ensure their technical knowledge is kept up to date with the latest changes in legislation. The training sessions include CPD and Practical Workshops on a variety of up to date accounting and tax subjects. This allows all of our staff to give you the latest up to date advice and guidance, leaving you free to manage and grow your own business.

Accounting and tax legislation is always changing, investing in training is a way for us to help you keep up to date with the changes.

For several members of the accounts team, they get to experience tutored professional training to help them progress through their professional bodies exams, with the eventual target being to become fully qualified. Alongside the tutored training, we can offer great on the job training and progression, giving team members a wide range of experience in different areas of work to help give them a broader understanding and assist them in overcoming the difficulties in trickier assignments.

Brandon Smith – Tax Trainee

I started at Botham Accounting in the midst of the pandemic. I knew training was something that was going to be affected. However, with constant consideration from management, I was given the support I needed to decide on my training route through the ATT and CTA. I was given the option to work from home and to come into the office for the necessary exposure to succeed, this means I have been able to find a good balance in undertaking my duties and finding the time to absorb what I am learning. Regarding the nature of the work itself and the development this encourages, I never find myself short of work that is interesting and varied to anything I have previously worked on. Particularly, the responsibility of tasks given such as my involvement in the Construction Industry Scheme has proven that Botham Accounting sees my worth.

I always feel encouraged and supported to push myself in my work too. My manager, Angela, makes sure that I’m involved in tasks which can be difficult, but necessary for my future undertaking of the CTA. A few months ago, Andrew challenged me to attempt a modelling of the personal tax system in Excel which could be used for one of our clients. This was also difficult, but somewhat enjoyable and provided a great eureka moment when I finally understood what I needed to do. Basically, the no-limits approach to training that Botham Accounting offers, allows you to only be limited by your own willingness to learn.

I have also felt looked after at Botham Accounting, from the support I offered even before I joined to the daily calls I receive as we all work remotely, helping me feel welcomed and part of the team. I look forward to the social events that have been rumoured to happen once the pandemic is in its decline…
